About Health and Wellbeing Coaches
Health and Wellbeing Coaches take a holistic approach helping people to identify difficulties or issues in all areas of their life and helping them find solutions and lifestyle changes that mean they can lead happy and fulfilled lives. Health and wellbeing coaches can also play a key role in helping to tackle health inequalities.
Their role involves engaging with patients and helping them to set realistic goals, delivering group or 1:1 sessions on healthy eating and physical activity, developing personalised care plans and providing practical advice and support to patients.
Health and Wellbeing Coaches also support and advise colleagues across the Primary Care Network.

“I really enjoy my role as it is both challenging and rewarding. Every client encounter is unique which means I am constantly learning and developing my skills. As a Health and Wellbeing Coach I am pushed outside of my comfort zone on a regular basis but feel very well supported by a wider team, which has really helped me to grow as a person and a professional.
“The role allows me to undertake regular training, for example recently I have become a qualified Escape Pain Programme Coach. I have also carried out Social Prescriber Plus training, first aid, mental health first aid and pain and psychotherapy training – all of which really benefits the patients that I work with.
“I think patients respond well to the work of Health and Wellbeing Coaches because they are given time to share their experiences, thoughts and feelings with me – they feel listened to and through our sessions we are able to build trust which encourages open and honest conversations. The information I provide for patients allows them to make informed decisions regarding realistic adjustments for managing their conditions long-term – thus improving overall quality of life.
“If you enjoy a challenge where you’ll be supported with growth, want to learn an invaluable set of skills and be given the opportunity to perfect them in a flexible, supportive team, within a variable of settings, this is role for you.”
